PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Professional Development Program

About the Program

The HEALTH Center for Addictions and Cancer Prevention offers a Professional Development Program (PDP), providing career enhancement opportunities for Postdoctoral Fellows and New Investigators pursuing careers in health-equity science at the University of Houston.

The PDP focuses on training scientists currently underrepresented in the health sciences (e.g., certain racial/ethnic groups, women, individuals with disabilities, or disadvantaged backgrounds). Our program offers career advancement opportunities, networking, and skill-building to facilitate professional goals and an accelerated pathway towards research independence. Through a data-driven group mentorship format, the PDP also supports diversification of the scientific workforce and innovative health-equity research efforts in addictions and cancer prevention.
